A Saree Story Woven with Love, Memory, and Meaning

I’ve always believed a saree has its own language that speaks of grace, strength, and timeless beauty. I grew up surrounded by that magic. My earliest memories are of watching my mother drape her sarees, each one a reflection of her mood, her story, her day.

She had a saree for every emotion and every occasion, and a patience like no other in taking care of them. Even today, she lovingly maintains her collection, carefully folding and storing each piece as if it were a treasure. Back in those days, she owned more than 700 sarees, each bought through small savings, simple joys, and an unwavering love for the craft.

In my 20s, I started borrowing her sarees for friends’ and colleagues’ weddings, and that’s when I truly fell in love with them. The way a saree makes you feel — confident, graceful, comfortable, and beautiful — is something words can’t fully describe.

The first-ever gift from my husband was also a saree, one I’ve kept safely to this day. It reminded me once again how a saree can hold not just beauty, but emotion, memory, and meaning.

That feeling inspired me to start Ekira, a brand born from that same emotion and respect for tradition.

I personally curate every collection, with a deep appreciation for well-woven, intricate work and colors that make you feel. Each saree is thoughtfully sourced, celebrating the weaves, prints, and crafts that tell their own stories, much like my mother’s timeless collection once did.

At Ekira, we bring sarees for the unique you, because we believe every woman expresses her individuality through the saree she wears, and every saree tells a story through the woman who drapes it.
